More Metal

And a disclaimer…..

As time-served designers, metalworkers and blacksmiths there’s little we can’t manage and nothing that surprises us anymore. A background in commercial forging as well as heritage ironwork reproduction, restoration and conservation… we can guide and advise you in your projects if necessary. And with old school know-how, black arts and wrinkles built up since 1992 we can get your job done on time and on budget.

We have experience on Set, filming and the whole process of production, so we know and appreciate the pressures you’re under… and the practical ways of getting the job done and achieving the best results.

If the Movie Metal name is new to you? Perhaps the old name is not? Movie Metal is Burrows Lea Forge Ltd. And Nick is the Smith that you’ve probably spoken to many times in the past?

Please browse our portfolio pages for inspiration, prompts and reference. Not all our work is exhibited there, and not all the work is film based, but it is applicable to the Film and TV industry and is wholly made by us. To that end please credit us with any images that you might borrow and be sure to not to post them on social media as your own work. The work in the photos is authentically forged by hand and is specially made for film and TV, it does not transfer to the domestic retail market for obvious reasons. Movie Metal solely works within the Film and TV industry and not to the general public. ….. here’s the disclaimer:

Disclaimer – Do not purchase thinking you are buying items that can be used in the real world, these items are specifically made for Set Decoration and Props for film makers. In a craft spanning more that 2500 years no piece of ironwork is wholly original in design and definitely not in practical terms, its all been done before in some guise or another? No film provenance is given to any item on this site, please don’t assume there is? Photos on this site span more than 30 years, most are our own design, some designs are reproductions of existing antique or photo heritage items, there are copies of prop house samples and interpretations of readily available items that can be bought off the internet. Many items are used in more than one production. Film specific items will not be posted here, but are available on our private pages (T’s and C’s apply). Likewise a full CV is available on request (T’s and C’s apply). Photos on this webpage are all watermarked; any photo used in publicity without Movie Metal’s permission will be dealt with in the usual ways. By way of good manners… please credit us if you use any of our photos in your presentations or references. Movie Metal reserves the right to refuse manufacture, particularly in instances of deliberate, covert photo ‘grabs’ of signature work from other Artists. Movie Metal never deliberately copies signature work from other Artists.
